About OpenPharmacyKorea
What this site does
OpenPharmacyKorea helps visitors to Korea find a pharmacy that is open right now. It shows pharmacies on a map, marks which are open at this moment based on their registered hours, and provides the Korean name and address so you can show it to a local or a taxi driver.
Who runs it
OpenPharmacyKorea is an independent service run by one individual. It is not affiliated with any pharmacy, government body or healthcare provider, and no pharmacist or doctor reviews its content. It is a sister project of OnCareMap (oncaremap.kr), which covers hospitals and emergency rooms in Korean.
The site is free to use and is supported by advertising. Ads appear only next to our written guides and situation pages — never on the map, the live “open now” lists or the pharmacy pages.
Where the data comes from
Pharmacy locations, phone numbers and opening hours come from Korea's public data portal (data.go.kr), published by the National Emergency Medical Center under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. We download the full registry again every day, so a change shows up here about a day after it reaches the registry; the registry itself is only as current as the hours each pharmacy has registered. English names and addresses are derived from official romanization rules and the Ministry of the Interior's English address service; where a reliable English form is not available we show only the Korean.
What it cannot tell you
- Whether a pharmacy is open at this very minute. We show registered hours; temporary closures, lunch breaks and holiday changes may not be reflected.
- Whether a specific medicine is in stock or available without a prescription.
- Medical advice of any kind. A pharmacist or doctor can help with that; this site only helps you find one.
- Anything about hospitals or emergency rooms. In an emergency, call 119.
How we write
The map, the lists and the pharmacy pages present the public registry as it is. The guides are explanatory articles written by the operator, and they follow the rules below.
- Every guide is written from official sources — government ministries and agencies, public institutions and the Korean Pharmaceutical Association — and lists the pages it relied on under “Sources” at the end.
- We do not diagnose, recommend treatments or give doses. We do not publish figures we could not check against a source or our own data, such as prices; instead we say what a value depends on and where to look it up.
- Each guide shows two dates. “Updated” is the last time its content changed. “Sources checked” is the last time we reopened its sources and compared them with the text. A sources check is not a medical review.
- If something is wrong, write to the address below. Confirmed errors in a guide are corrected in the text and its updated date changes. Wrong pharmacy hours usually come from the registry, so a lasting fix needs the pharmacy to update its registration.
